Hair Regeneration
What Are Hair Stem Cells?
Within every human body lies a natural reservoir of specialized cells tasked with a vital mission: maintaining the integrity of tissues—such as the skin and blood—where individual cells possess short lifespans and undergo continuous turnover. To sustain this constant rejuvenation and replace cellular loss, our bodies rely on cells equipped with the extraordinary capacity to regenerate and replenish. These cellular architects are known as "stem cells." To be scientifically categorized as a true stem cell, the following twin definitive capabilities are absolutely essential:
One is the ability to produce the various cells that make up our bodies, such as skin, red blood cells, and platelets (differentiation ability), and the other is the ability to divide into cells with exactly the same abilities as itself (self-replication ability).

What is alopecia?
It is said that the total number of human hairs is around 100,000 to 150,000, but once they reach a certain length, they naturally stop growing. For male, this happens after 2 to 5 years, and for female, approximate 4 to 7 years. Cell division stops around the hair bulb, so hair growth stops. After about three weeks of regression, the hair goes into the resting phase, then eventually falls out.
In this way, all hair is naturally to fall out eventually, but after 4 to 6 months, new hair in the growth phase—starting as fine, early-stage vellus hair—will grow back again. While hair normally repeats this natural cycle, if certain factors come into play—such as an excess secretion of male hormones, stress, or poor blood flow to the scalp—the growth phase becomes shorter than usual, causing hair to fall out faster and leading to progressive hair loss.
Treatment
In a region called the bulge area at the base of the hair follicle, there are "hair follicle stem cells" that create hair, and cell division in this area is what generates new hair. When these hair follicle stem cells stop working as well as they should, the cycle from the resting phase to the growth phase grinds to a halt, leading to abnormalities in your natural hair cycle.
At Helene clinic, we inject adipose-derived stem cells directly into the scalp to activate your hair follicle stem cells, helping restore your "hair cycle" to normal and promoting new hair growth. Injecting these stem cells activates the "progenitor cells" that live around the hair roots. The growth factors produced by these cells act on dormant hair follicle stem cells, activating them and flipping the switch to move from the resting phase into the growth phase, which naturally promotes hair growth.
