HAIR REGROWTH Hair Regeneration

What Are Hair Stem Cells?

Within every human body lies a natural reservoir of specialized cells tasked with a vital mission: maintaining the integrity of tissues—such as the skin and blood—where individual cells possess short lifespans and undergo continuous turnover. To sustain this constant rejuvenation and replace cellular loss, our bodies rely on cells equipped with the extraordinary capacity to regenerate and replenish. These cellular architects are known as "stem cells." To be scientifically categorized as a true stem cell, the following twin definitive capabilities are absolutely essential:

One is the ability to produce the various cells that make up our bodies, such as skin, red blood cells, and platelets (differentiation ability), and the other is the ability to divide into cells with exactly the same abilities as itself (self-replication ability).

Preventing Hair Loss

Autologous Adipose-Derived MSC Therapy for Hair Preservation and Loss Prevention

What is alopecia?

It is said that the total number of human hairs is around 100,000 to 150,000, but once they reach a certain length, they naturally stop growing. For male, this happens after 2 to 5 years, and for female, approximate 4 to 7 years. Cell division stops around the hair bulb, so hair growth stops. After about three weeks of regression, the hair goes into the resting phase, then eventually falls out.

In this way, all hair is naturally to fall out eventually, but after 4 to 6 months, new hair in the growth phase—starting as fine, early-stage vellus hair—will grow back again. While hair normally repeats this natural cycle, if certain factors come into play—such as an excess secretion of male hormones, stress, or poor blood flow to the scalp—the growth phase becomes shorter than usual, causing hair to fall out faster and leading to progressive hair loss.

Treatment

In a region called the bulge area at the base of the hair follicle, there are "hair follicle stem cells" that create hair, and cell division in this area is what generates new hair. When these hair follicle stem cells stop working as well as they should, the cycle from the resting phase to the growth phase grinds to a halt, leading to abnormalities in your natural hair cycle.

At Helene clinic, we inject adipose-derived stem cells directly into the scalp to activate your hair follicle stem cells, helping restore your "hair cycle" to normal and promoting new hair growth. Injecting these stem cells activates the "progenitor cells" that live around the hair roots. The growth factors produced by these cells act on dormant hair follicle stem cells, activating them and flipping the switch to move from the resting phase into the growth phase, which naturally promotes hair growth.

2Counseling

You will be requested to complete a comprehensive medical questionnaire to map your detailed health history. Base on your health records and current clinical profile, our medical team will design a highly customized therapeutic tailored to your unique physiological needs.

Counseling

3Cell Collection & Blood Sampling

  1. The entire procedure approximately 20 minutes, and will use local anesthesia.
  2. A small adipose tissue sample (approximately 5 mm in diameter) will be harvested from the discreet area behind the ear, after that the blood sampling will be taken.
  3. The suture material is highly biocompatible, medical-grade bioabsorbable sutures.
  4. After the cell sample being collected, Helene medical team will check the wound and provide you medicine.

※ The suture is bioabsorbable, no removal required.

5Cell Culture

We will begin to culture the stem cell and exosome at Helene in-house lab (CPC).
The cultivation period is roughly about 4 weeks.
The cell cultivation will according to your administration schedule, please refrain from changing or cancelling the administration date.

Cell Culture

Helene Clinic In-house Lab (CPC)

In-house Lab (CPC)

Many regenerative medicine clinics currently obtain cultured cells by outsourcing cell culture operations or purchasing them from external sources. However, at our clinic, we have established an in-house CPC (Cell Processing Center), and all processes from collection to storage, culture, and testing are performed in the same laboratory, with everything centrally managed using barcodes. We meet management standards equivalent to GMP and have also obtained ISO 9001 certification.

Proprietary Medium Formulation

Proprietary Medium Formulation

The most important factor in high-quality cell culture is the medium. At Helene clinic, we use "Helene Medium," a proprietary in-house developed culture medium specifically engineered for mesenchymal stem cells within our state-of-the-art laboratory. The growth curve and growth rate of this medium are stable, even without the serum presence. Also, it is thousand times faster in cultivation than other available medium. These experimental results have been presented at overseas conferences such as [1] ISCT (the International Society for Cellular Therapy) and [2] Cambridge International Stem Cell Symposium.

[1] “Cartilage regeneration by autologous adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells for the treatment of osteoarthritis” was posted in ISCT (the International Society for Cellular Therapy) from May 29 to June 1, 2019

Third-party Cell Quality Certification

Third-party Cell Quality Certification

To ensure safety, Helene partner with Takara Bio Inc. to implement rigorous, high-standard testing protocols. Following these exact specifications, our state-of-the-art in-house lab executes extensive quality control measures before any cells are cleared for patient administration. Through this independent, rigorous third-party validation, the uncompromised quality of our cellular products is fully authenticated, conclusively proving that the therapies we deliver consist of authentic, high-purity mesenchymal stem cells. Furthermore, our proprietary cultivation process guarantees a completely sterile environment with zero risk of contamination, and our cells are clinically verified as non-tumorigenic (retaining no risk of oncogenesis) while maintaining their definitive, pluripotent differentiation capabilities. Upon treatment, each patient is provided with a comprehensive dossier containing these official, certified laboratory reports.

  1. Stem cell third-party certification
  2. Stem cell sterility test report
  3. Stem cell non-tumorigenicity test report

6Administration

After a personal consultation with your doctor, we will gently inject the hair stem cells into your specific areas of concern.

Confirming the injection areas → Delicately inserting the needle Treatment time: 20 to 30 minutes

Administration

Injection into the scalp
